Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council (DLR) approached us with an ambition: to create a graduate recruitment experience that could compete with - and exceed - the expectations set by major private-sector employers. Their goal was to attract a new wave of graduates in Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Management and Administration, and to demonstrate that local government offers careers with purpose, growth, and real impact.
The venue for the inaugural event was the beautiful LexIcon Library in Dún Laoghaire, one of the most celebrated contemporary public buildings in Ireland. Our task was to craft a name, strategy, and visual identity that would feel aspirational for talented graduates, while reflecting the civic values and long-term vision of DLR.
Through strategic workshops and audience research, a unifying theme quickly emerged: graduates today are more conscious of their social and environmental impact and are seeking careers that allow them to shape something meaningful. This insight informed the naming process, leading to a title that is both empowering and action-oriented: Create Your Future.
The Y in "Your" is slightly recessive so that, at first glance, the eye reads Create Our Future, combining the notions of personal ambition and public good.
The brand identity draws heavily from the tools of the trade: city planning maps, engineer drawings and spreadsheets. Its subtle background grid structure houses abstract icons that represent renewable energy, community and environmental policies; signfying DLR's progressive approach to civic infrastructure.
